The NAACP New York State Conference Wednesday announced it will
launch a social media campaign to promote the election of the first
African American Speaker of the New York City Council in history.
“We have a chance to make history in New York City and we should not
pass it up,” Hazel Dukes, President of the NAACP NY Conference said.
“The city's top leadership inside City Hall must reflect the diversity
of New York. There are highly qualified African American candidates, so
our message is clear: New York must not pass over an African American.
Not Again. Not this time.”
