Rapper Meek Mill’s And Stop The Probation Abuse

Reported by Liku Zelleke

Rapper Meek Mill’s fans were out on the streets of downtown Philadelphia demanding that his 11-years-long probation end immediately. Although he was freed from his house arrest a few weeks ago, Mill is still on probation, and has been for well over a decade, a fact that is making his fans and other concerned citizens think that perhaps the criminal justice system isn’t exactly being fair to him.

Last Tuesday afternoon, the supporters marched in protest against the probation and asked for it to be reduced. They were carrying signs that read “Stop Probation Abuse” and “Free Meek From His Abusive Probation.”

The rapper has been having run-ins with the law for a long time – ever since he was 18 years old – but it was in 2008 that he was convicted of a gun charge and sentenced to jail time and five years probation. Just a few months back, Mill was put under house arrest for three months after he violated his parole. Prior to that, in 2014, he had earned five months time for another violation.
