Demetra Adams: Opera's Shining Star



Gifted Soprano Discusses "Juniper Tree", Opera in the Mainstream, and the Importance of Music Education

Demetra Adams is a classically-trained singer, New York City resident, and an accomplished musical theater actress whose regional credits include Lilli in Carnival, Sonia in Godspell and Ensemble in Tommy.

A proud advocate of children’s education in art and music, Ms. Adams has had the opportunity to reach thousands of children and young adults through master classes, educational workshops and children’s opera performances while working with the Virginia Opera, Florida Grand Opera and Des Moines Metro Opera.

She is the winner of numerous awards including the Bel Canto Opera Competition, Josephine LiPuma Vocal Competition, Finalist  in the New Jersey Alliance of Performing Artists Vocal Competition, Margaret Hillis Study Grant and the Manhattan School of Music Merit Scholarship.

She joins us to discuss her career and role as “The Lovely Daughter” in the world premiere production of composer Josh Ollswang’s new opera “Juniper Tree”, which will open here in New York City on December 12th.
