'Spirits Alive!', 'Twilight' at Maple Grove Cemetery

Annual Event Continues to Attract a Growing Number of Media Outlets and New York City Residents

Spirits Alive! 2012 will take place on Saturday, October 6, from 2 pm to 4 pm, at 83-15 Kew Gardens Road, Kew Gardens, New York. 

If inclement weather is predicted, the event will be held at the Center at Maple Grove, 127-15 Kew Gardens Road, between 127th and 129th Street.
  
The annual celebration features a cast of over 20 volunteer actors dressed in period costumes who portray some of Maple Grove’s most illustrious and historical figures from all walks of life. Attendees will receive easy-to-follow maps and programs.

In addition to Spirits Alive, Maple Grove will also present its very first edition of Spirits Alive at Twilight!, which will take place after the walk-through, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, at the same location.

“Twilight” will feature a special tribute to the legendary musicians buried at Maple Grove Cemetery. Singers and musicians will perform classic songs that were written or performed by the late artists.

The music of artists like noted Broadway composer Vincent Youmans, who penned “Tea for Two”, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer La Verne Baker and Blues singer Jimmy Rushing will be showcased, as well as songs from The Wiz, No, No Nanette, The Lion King and others.

A small fee will be charged for the Sprits Alive walk-through, but admission to the Twilight event is free.  Free parking will be available, and all attendees are encouraged to bring a flashlight.
