JAMAICA, N.Y.-- Congressman Gregory Meeks (NY-06) is set to join philanthropist Russell Simmons, Reverend Al Sharpton, and community activist, Erica Ford, Founder of Life Camp Inc. for the “I Am Present 4 Peace” march on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at 6:00pm at the corners of Sutphin Boulevard and 111th Avenue in Jamaica, N. Y.

“With three of our precincts reporting 100% increase in crime, it is critical that we come together as a community,” stated U.S. Rep Meeks.
“I am calling on parents, the New York City Police Department, civic leaders and elected officials to work together, share, information and implement strategies all in an effort to end the tragic violence taking place in our neighborhoods.”

Why isn't Meeks doing something about the crime surge in Chicago where he lives.
