With Hong Kong Graveyards Full, Burials at Sea Become More Common


With more than seven million people, Hong Kong is one of the world's most densely populated areas. More than 40,000 people die there every year, and the territory is running out of space to bury them. In a departure from traditional Chinese custom, which says a body must be buried so it can return to the earth, many families join government-run maritime burial services to scatter their loved ones' ashes at sea.
