Job Fairs to be Held Across NY State

A Total of 11 June Job Fairs Will Kick Off National Job Fairs Month

New York will host eleven job fairs across the state during June as part of National Job Fair month.

The job fairs are a part of the Governor's NY Works program to put New Yorkers back to work, and the eleven events will bring together more than 375 employers statewide and feature more than 10,000 job openings.

"As we work to get New York's economy back on track, these job fairs will help connect unemployed New Yorkers to job opportunities in communities across the state, from New York City to Buffalo," Governor Cuomo said.

"The job fairs will be valuable resources for local businesses that are hiring, as well as offering job seekers an opportunity to use the many free services offered by New York State that can help the unemployed get back to work."

Job Fair Month will kick off in New York State with eleven events beginning June 7. The dates and locations are listed below.

The job fairs will feature local businesses that have the largest number of openings as listed in the NYS Job Bank. On-site interviews for a variety of jobs requiring a variety of skill levels will be offered.

The New York State Department of Labor will offer free services to job seekers on-site including resume review and critiquing, workshops on job search tips and interviewing techniques, and resume scanning into the Department's SMART job search system.

Governor Cuomo's New York Works agenda is designed to put New Yorkers back to work.

The agenda includes Jobs Express, a web site that connects job seekers with available jobs; Summer Youth, which aims to hire more than 18,000 low-income teens ages 14-20 across the state this summer; and NY Youth Works, which helps disadvantaged youth ages 16-24 in designated urban areas find jobs. Applications for NY Youth Works will be taken at all job fairs.

Job fairs and recruitment events are also listed under “Events” on the New York State Labor Department's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/nyslabor .
