In Memoriam.... Army Specialist Christopher J. Scott

Governor Andrew Cuomo has directed that flags on state government buildings be flown at half-staff on Tuesday, September 13 in honor of a soldier from Tyrone who died in Kandahar province, Afghanistan on September 3.

Army Specialist Christopher J. Scott died of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his unit with small arms fire. He was assigned to the 716th Military Police Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

"On behalf of all New Yorkers, I extend my deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and fellow soldiers of Specialist Christopher Scott," Governor Cuomo said.

"We will honor and remember the service and sacrifice of this New York soldier with our profound gratitude and appreciation."
